The Draping process of fibre-semis in 3-dimensionary near-net-shape preforms are still manually implemented in small or medium-sized industrial companies in Germany. These processes require usually a lot of processing time and high costs without aguaranteed quality.

This research project focuses on reducing processing time and draping errors of the preform production.

To achieve this aim a new approach will be investigated and provided based on draping- simulation knowledge and kinematicapproaches supported by artificial intelligence. Once this tool is implemented, cost intensive simulation softwares are no longer needed. Moreover, our tool will be able to make precise predictions of appropriate fibres and geometry of the semis, thereby avoiding errors and reducing production costs.
