    Wir, die Forschungsgruppe „Produktionstechnik“ des Instituts für Informationsmanagement im Maschinenbau (IMA), beschäftigen uns mit den Einsatzmöglichkeiten von künstlicher Intelligenz und Methoden des maschinellen Lernens in produktionstechnischen Systemen. Von der Qualitätsvorhersage über das Erkennen kritischer Maschinenzustände bis hin zur Produktionsplanung – in einer Vielzahl von Anwendungsszenarien der produzierenden Industrie entwickeln wir in Forschungs- und Industrieprojekten umfangreiche Software-Applikationen.

  • Stud. Assistant (m/f/d) as Java backend developer for building communication platform for construction sites of the future

    Digitalization and automation has so far been poorly implemented in the construction industry. This is primarily due to the fact that various construction machines have not yet been interconnected and to the complexity and heterogeneity of the system “construction site”. A multitude of construction machines from different manufacturers work together with people in heavily polluted, continuously changing environments.

    In the FutureSite (future-site.de) project, a reference construction site will be built for the construction site of the future, on which various construction machines will be interconnected and digitalized. At our institute, high-quality model construction machines are available, with which we plan to execute typical work steps of a construction automatically.

    Your job is to help build a data processing platform that facilitates data collection from various machines on the job site. This data is used for monitoring and, if necessary, to feed control signals back to the machines. The job provides the opportunity to learn industrial system design for highly scalable IoT networks in a friendly and hands-on environment.


    Your Profile:

    •          Student of computer science, business informatics, engineering, or similar.
    •          Experience in Java development
    •        Experience with Java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate etc. is desirable.
    •          Basic knowledge of API design for RESTful Services
    •          Interest in interdisciplinary work
    •          Ability to work in a team, taking personal responsibility and quick learning
    •          Knowledge of German and English

    Your tasks:

    ·         Development of the server backend of the web platform

    ·         Active involvement in software development

    ·         Communicating with partners regarding requirements and specification

    ·         Participating in an exciting, application-oriented research project


    Further details:

    The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is initially limited to 3 months. However, an extension is possible depending on the motivation of the student.   • Student Assistant (m/f/d) for "Interactive control and monitoring of construction machines"

    Your job is to develop a dashboard to monitor the current state of the construction site and the environment. The dashboard will also be used to send control signals back to the machines for remote control. We offer you the opportunity to use and learn state-of-the-art front-end technologies with a focus on usability in a friendly and practice-oriented environment.

    Your Profile:

    ·         Student of computer science, business informatics, engineering, or similar.

    ·         Experience in web development (e.g. HTML5, Java Script, CSS)

    ·         Safe handling of frameworks such as Material UI, Vue JS or similar

    ·         Experience in dealing with databases and RESTful APIs

    ·         Interest in interdisciplinary work

    ·         Ability to work in a team, taking personal responsibility and quick learning
