Due to the high economic performance of SMEs, it is of extraordinary importance to society as a whole that SMEs continue to develop and are, thus, well positioned for the future. The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Rheinland focuses on the realisation of digitalisation and AI in companies and offers SMEs regional contact persons with access to needs-based expertise in the consortium and a nationwide network. The activities of the centre are aimed at supporting SMEs in the digital transformation and the introduction of AI in the company. To this end, the centre creates offers that also pick up SMEs with a low level of digitalisation and thus advance digitalisation overall. This is done by imparting methodological and technological competences as well as by offering various services in the five pillars of "informing", "qualifying", "implementing", "transferring" and "networking". The focus is always on a holistic view and systemic analysis of the need for digitisation as well as the empowerment of SMEs with the development of competences to realise the digital transformation.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) as part of the "Mittelstand-Digital" programme.
