Preparing Children at Home for MR Scanning; a COSMOnautic Mixed Reality Fairy Tale
COSMO@HOME aims to develop an application for children in order to prepare at home for upcoming MRI scans in order to avoid sedation during the scans. The application will contain different modules including a mixed reality (MR) module allowing to realistically experience a scan in an MR environment. The aim is to maximize the number of pediatric scans without sedation, which will lead to decreases in hospital time and costs as well as improved healthcare. The Cybernetics Lab is responsible for the MR development and the educational activities spreading information on the app amongst hospital staff, students, as well as pediatric patients and the parents. The application will be developed by the consortium of KU Leuven, Philips Research, RISE and the Cybernetics Lab in Aachen.
