Cluster of Excellence TMFB (SCA)

Lauralenzbild

After a successful first funding period (from 2007 to 2012), in June 2012, the further funding (five years till 2017) was announced through the DFG and the Wissenschaftsrat. Within the scope of the second funding period the Supplementary Cluster Activities (SCA) within the Cluster of Excellence “Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass” (TMFB) were enlarged. The SCAs aim, furthermore, at the scientific linking and development of cluster-specific research processes. The focus lies on the effective and efficient cross linking of TMFB members on the level of the individual researchers, research areas and the whole Cluster of Excellence. For this reason, specific measures for the cross linking of all cluster members are developed, implemented and continuously evaluated as well as holistic solutions for the management of an integrative Cluster of Excellence are prepared. Supplementary Cluster Activities especially comprise the action fields collaboration-enhancing research (CE-Research) with the emphasis on “Performance Measurement & Knowledge Engineering”. These enable a detailed understanding of the mechanism of collaboration in large-scale projects and with this lead to a continuous improvement of the directly used collaboration-enhancing services (CE-Services). Through an iterative approach, the achieved results can be used in the CE-Services with emphasis on “Promotion of Early Career Researchers & Promotion of Equal Opportunities”.
