The PEM and IMA at the RWH Aachen University, in collaboration with the ILT of the Frauenhofer Gesellschaft and the iwb of the Technical University Munich, develop an innovative plant concept for improving the cost-efficiency and the quality of the production process of lithium ion batteries.

The goal of the project is to integrate three separate electrode manufacturing process steps into one overall process. The interrelationships of the process chains formed in this way are unexplored and therefore represent considerable potential for optimization. Whereas the listed partners focus on the physical integration of the individual process steps, the IMA is responsible for the digital integration of the individual process steps. After successful data integration and semantic data preprocessing, the IMA aims to explore the optimization potential of the developed overall process by using artificial intelligence methods.
