Shopping Lab Aachen

Under the motto "associate stationary and digital commerce", the Shopping Lab opens on May 17 in the former "Lust for Life" in Aachen. Between May and August, the innovative pop-up store will provide local retailers and consumers with a modern meeting place for networking and sharing, trying out the latest technology, and training opportunities. Together with the city of Aachen and its partners from science and industry - the Institute for Tool-Free Production (IWF), m2c-Lab (both Aachen University of Applied Sciences) and AIXhibit AG - the Shopping Lab demonstrates the potential of digitization to retailers and consumers in order meaningfully combine online and offline worlds. "We want to make the digitization of trade tangible here," explains Dieter Begaß, Head of the Department of Economics, Science and Europe of the city of Aachen. The Institute for Management Cybernetics (IfU) e.V. of the Cybernetics Lab IMA & IfU is developing a shopping app to link the offers for stationary retailing with local players in the course of the three-month project period. In addition, four "Idea Camps" will focus on consumer demands for retail digitization and specific solutions for retailers.
