Digital Production Technology

  • Feature engineering and preprocessing of data from real and simulated production processes
  • Conception and implementation of machine learning and AI-based systems in production as well as in planning and development processes
  • AI-based control and control of adaptive technical systems
  • Adaptive user interfaces and web applications for analyzing and controlling technical systems

The research group "Production Technology" is dedicated to the topics around digitized production. The goals are to transfer concepts from information technology to production technology, to expand and to apply them in order to design and optimize production processes in the digital world under the special requirements of this application domain. The topics of the groups are designed holistically from the data source through the analysis to the feedback of the insights from the analysis to humans as well as to the machine.

An essential feature of the research group is its focus on real processes. This is achieved through close cooperation with a large network of industrial and research partners. In addition to classic scenarios such as the forecasting of product quality or predictive maintenance, the control of robotic systems by means of machine learning techniques and the integration of artificial intelligence into planning processes are implemented in order to make them flexible and robust for humans in the complex world of production.
