Best Paper Award for Competence Development Recommender

The central objective of the CHEFIN project is the "equitable development of women careers in the field of STEM". To this end, the Cybernetics Lab of the RWTH Aachen University and the Center for Higher Education of the TU Dortmund are jointly researching the success and inhibition factors for the career paths of women in the sciences and technology area. Now, the first paper from this project titled "Designing a Competence Development Recommender for Equal Career Development Opportunities for Women in the STEM Field" has been rewarded with the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Gender Research (ICGR) in Porto. As part of the CHEFIN project, the Cybernetics Lab is developing a career recommendation system, the Competence Development Recommender (CDR). This is a free online tool where users can link to their electronic resume. As a result, they receive comparative values and optimization recommendations with regard to their services provided so far. These recommendations allow them a realistic self-assessment and should additionally support the users in their career planning. More information about the Best Paper Award at
